Announcing the dates of the Heritage Frostbite series, which commences on 4 January 2017, Rear Commodore (Sail) Julia Schaefer said: “We are very fortunate and proud that Heritage Group, one of the Island’s biggest insurance and financial services providers, will continue its support of the RCIYC in 2017 and will once again be sponsoring the Club’s Frostbite series. The race is held over six Saturdays between January and March, and is traditionally popular, not least because of the convivial buzz in the Club at prize givings following each race, with racers gathering to enjoy grilled sausages and refreshments, courtesy of Heritage.”
During the 2017 Heritage Frostbite series, Heritage will also be hosting a racing yacht photography competition, offering budding photographers on the island the chance of first-hand photographic commission experience. Entrants will be given the opportunity to follow the race fleet in a RIB on race day, taking photographs which will be displayed at the RCIYC prize giving, as well as on the Heritage website. Heritage will award a prize at the end of the Series for the best collection of photographs.
Mark Huntley from Heritage said “Sailing is major activity for the island and it's great to support the club as part of our community support. We are looking forward this year to welcoming young photographers and giving them an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.”
To take part in the photography competition entrants have to be between the age of 16 to 21 and in full time education in Guernsey, and require use of their own camera and editing equipment. They will also have to be willing to go out on a RIB and/or take photographs from ashore, on three Saturdays between January and March, and allow Heritage to use their photographs for marketing purposes.
