Cyber security topic for IoD April lunch

The second in the series of Institute of Directors’ lecture lunches in April is to focus on the threats of cyber security.

John Cross, managing director of UK specialists Glemham Underwriting, is speaking to the IoD Guernsey membership on 15 April and will provide an update on cyber security, which is rapidly becoming a major reputational problem for businesses with client data online.

Hardly a week goes by without headlines about the threat that exists from breaches of cyber security and the topic is very much on the radar of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the States of Guernsey, both of which have undertaken reviews in this area.

John will outline how insurers are responding to businesses and individuals becoming increasingly exposed to this threat. He will consider Guernsey’s position in relation to the use of data, IT and connectivity, the likelihood of cyber attacks happening in the local business environment and what insurance mechanisms can be put in place to protect us from them.

IoD lunches are sponsored by Heritage Insurance. They are held on Fridays over eight months and are expected to include a newly elected States minister under the revised system of government.
