Heritage sleep under the stars for Hope for a Child

Heritage International Fund Managers have been crowned winners of ‘Hope for a Child Abandoned Challenge 2011’.  A title which the team were delighted to be awarded after their chilling and adventurous night under the stars.
October had been an uncharacteristically warm month and heading out to Fort Pezeries at Pleinmont, it seemed like the team had picked the perfect location and date for their Abandoned Challenge.  However, with little cloud cover that day, temperatures soon plummeted as the sun set over the horizon.

The team set up camp, built a fire and settled in for a night in a spooky fort which was only a stone’s throw away from Guernsey’s famous Fairy Ring.  They fashioned a temporary shelter within the walls of the Fort and set about claiming their sleeping quarters for the night.

After games and stories around the campfire to keep spirits up, morning was finally upon them.  Sleeping in the open October air had chilled the team to their bones and everyone was keen to get home for a warm bath and some hot food.
The team’s fundraising efforts were amazing, raising over £1,600 from friends, family, work colleagues and clients for Hope for a Child.  Hope for a Child empowers mothers in Uganda enabling them to rise from poverty and have a more financially secure future.  The charity helps women to develop a sustainable business and therefore regular family income.

Annie Knights was responsible for organising the event for the Heritage team and commented “It was hard work finding the right venue, ensuring that it was both challenging but safe.  The team came together and supported each other during the experience and more importantly had fun raising money for such a worthwhile charity”.

Managing Director, Mark Huntley, commented “I am extremely proud of the team and their accomplishment, but primarily for raising so much for the charity.  We have to thank all of our friends, family, colleagues and particularly our clients for their continued generosity and support of Heritage’s charitable efforts.  Heritage Group is committed to supporting worthwhile causes and this will continue to be a charity we will support and keep close to our hearts – I am assured that the team will be back to defend their title in 2012!”.
