History of Heritage Group Insurance Brokers

Although our parent company the Heritage Group (formerly Polygon) has been around for over 30 years, Heritage Group Insurance Brokers (HGIB) started from humble beginnings in 1996. In 1996 Pentagon Insurance Brokers (our former name) was formed as a result of taking over some of the direct aviation business of the group, which needed intermediary involvement.

In 1998 we added the general insurance division as a result of Stuart Butler’s arrival, who brought with him over 20 years, experience both from an Insurance Broking and Insurance Company background. Due to the successful growth of this division it has developed into a recognised commercial (business) insurance solutions provider and niche market player.

The following year HGIB Life & Pensions was established. From day one we were able to create a team with an immediate impact. The origins of the department came from two staff who joined us from Eagle Star with a combined experience of 56 years, since then we have integrated Greg Gettings and his team from Channel Financial Services. This has allowed this division to develop into one of the foremost provider of wealth management services.

In line with our development and continued drive to be the best at what we do, we made the decision two years ago to create a division that could cater for the requirements of the financial sector. Here we are specifically talking about Financial Risks which includes Professional Indemnity and Directors’ & Officers’ Liability. Grant Mitchenall was brought in to head up this section having worked for over 20 years in this market in Lloyds.
